The race for the I-League title remains wide open. Gokulam Kerala kept their hopes alive with a 1-0 win over Sreenidi Deccan at the Corporation Stadium on Sunday night.
The victory has moved Gokulam to second place in the table with 37 points, just two behind leaders Churchill Brothers. Inter Kashi and Real Kashmir are on 36 points. The final round of league matches, to be played over the next week, should be an interesting one.
In a match they desperately needed to win, the Gokulam men showed intent. They won a corner in the opening seconds, but minutes later, Sreenidi also won one. It was a lively start to the match, played in front of a small crowd, despite the free entry.

Gokulam broke through in the 16th minute, and Thabiso Brown was the scorer once again. The demonstrator from Lesotho, a small country in southern Africa, has been in sparkling form since joining the club last month.
But Sreenidi left him unmarked, making it easier for him to attack after he was given a long ball. He easily beat the hapless goalkeeper, Arya Lamba.
